I watched your whole little video, and all I got out if it was the guy was trying to insult the left wing by picking facts and using stats to back up a shallow argument that is a non-issue.
He talks about MOVIES AND MUSIC?? How in the hell is that relevant to anything? He also did not mention that the US scores lower on test scores than several other countries, and his definition of a war for oil is laughable.
Its hard to take anything you post seriously when all you do is use other people's propaganda, yes propaganda, to try and make your point. You think Bill Whitller doesnt have an agenda? Then why was he constantly insulting the President, Bill Maher, and Jeanie Graffalo, even taking a personal shot at Graffalo by bringing up her lack of success.

I never said anything bad about the US as a whole, this is about waste, and overuse. We waste enough food every day to feed numerous countries.

Its not about not wanting to be a third world country, but as your hero Whittler just said, the US is the most powerful nation in the world, why are we allowed to just waste all the food and money? Because the US is successful, its okay to become greed-filled, obese, less intelligent, narrow minded people? Not even close.

When capitalism exceeds education, we have a problem, and that is the current state of the US. We are too worried about profit margins and not worried enough about the test scores, the lack of people graduating high school, the kids who are forced to go school in very substandard schools, with out of date books and not enough teachers and overcrowded classrooms.

We have sacrificed our school system, while companies are(were) posting out of this world profit margins.
Your hero's No Child Left Behind left our school system in such a mess im not sure we will ever dig ourselves out.

The video you posted was JUST talking about how great the US is, how intelligent we are, and how we are the most intelligent nation in teh world.
    Well, thats simply not true.
    http://4brevard.com/choice/internati...est-scores.htm

The US ranks 12th in international test scores.
Under No Child Left Behind, from 2002-2007, reading scores for all groups, except Asian-American students, have remained flat. So we made zero improvement during that time period.

Go poll all the teachers in Wise County and the surrounding areas, and see how many teachers are:
satisfied with the overall intelligence of students and adults
in favor of No Child Left Behind

Then maybe you will see the real issue, the truth about the US education system.

WE HAVE MORE SHOPPING MALLS THAN HIGH SCHOOLS

If that doesn't bother you, its a lost cause.

The trivia show host in me doesn't believe this is true. It might depend on what you call a shopping mall? Would Shawnee Shopping Center count for instance. But Malls as most of us think of Malls, like Fort Henry, etc. there are only several hundred of them nationwide whereas there are way more than 20,000 high schools, might even be more than 30,000 from what data I found.

    2007 census?

Again, what constitutes a mall? Is the Marty Shopping Center a mall?

Found it. It says 47,835 malls and shopping centers. So they would be counting Shawnee shopping center, Marty shopping center, the Wal-Mart shopping center in BSG, The old Wal-Mart Center where Magic Mart is now. Even the center where Payless in Wise is.

The U.S. Census counted 25,375 "places" in 2000. this counts towns, cities, unincorporated communities, villages and so forth.

So, you really believe there is nearly 2 actual "Malls" for every one of these places?

So? Am I disturbed that there are 1 and 1/2 Shawnee Shopping Centers for every High School in the country....not really.....and I bet Gene the Barber down there isn't either.

No, but thats kind of unfair.

For every town that only has 1 or no malls, bigger cities like NYC, Miami, LA, etc.. probably have 10-20 malls.

But they also have similar numbers of public and private HS.

Yeah, but there are only so many of those. Where is the nearest true Mall? Kingsport?

See, it just doesn't make sense. They are counting every little shopping center in the country. That's fine, but when that is then spun into "Mall" as a political statement it is deceiving at best.

There are less than 1,000 true Malls in the U.S. That is as most of us define a Mall, like the Fort Henry Mall, Bristol Mall, even Middlesboro Mall.
